a second attempt or fourth in creating the semi-abstract form of humanoid molecular object. here i focus more on the cylindrical shape of the bulging muscles, reduced them to simple circles and ovals. a strong sense of realism is followed from the original picture especially in transferring the shadows and reflections but alien-like humanoid forms are zoomed-in compared to the previous drawing.

part of the circuit boys series which focus around the theme of sex, recreational drugs, late-night partying, music and physical perfection. in this series, i wish to portray the extreme excitement and what is considered as fun during taking part in these activities. taken as forms of escape from the monosyllabic daily life, these temporary activities are not effective after all. the receipts which symbolize the daily responsibilities manage to destroy the fake white background which a person created as his attempt to escape and bind him like the snake in the original sin.

this series consists of the two large drawings and works that are part of the project with rin ioka.

sketches of futuristic humanoid structures which are constructed plainly by straight lines and bold outer linings. i wish to further incorporate the idea of robotic art into the concept of homosexuality and lifestyle of gay circle. figures are made to be as rigid as possible but still give very clear representation of what is considered as perfect physique. creating male models as if they are machines and controlled by computer programming.

This series of work talk about the ecstasy of being in a club. A place where people dance, drink and drug themselves throughout the night trying to get away from the responsibility in life. The figures depict a frozen second of the model being 'high'. The background being bright white is a representation of being secluded from the outside world and being in their own imaginative 'peace' of mind. The torn background reveals receipts which symbolizes the responsibility i.e work, commitment, bills, etc.
How far does this form of escapism actually allows us to escape from reality. The almost nude figures show how fragile and insecure humans are when they are faced with this situation. Being 'high' does not let you escape everything after all. It is only layered over the temporary blank thoughts until it is torn and unveiling the reality.
The idea of the figure being bind by the receipts mimics the story of adam and the snake. Sin follows humans as we have to work to stay alive and similarly, the reality will follow and bind people even though they try to escape in the means of getting 'high'.

These works are parts of Traveling Cards, a project initiated by Rin Ioka. Sending the cards overseas further emphasize people's effort to go to overseas clubs and parties.

This work questions how far we believe whatever being shown towards us. Especially newspapers, we tend to believe everything that it states. Through the figures, viewers might understand them as Chinese ladies, prostitutes. The newspapers have set our mindset to think in such a way, and through this piece, people's mindset are challenged as they are forced to look and understand the figures in a completely different context.

This installation explores the idea of contemporary and modern vs traditional. Chrysanthemum tea is often drank at family reunion dinner and considered a very traditional custom. However, in today's society, the significance of the drink is diminished due to the selling of chrysanthemum tea as packet drinks.

The paintings too mimics the traditional chinese paintings however, the materials used are not so much traditional. Added with origami flowers, the works become a more contemporary art piece than a traditional chinese caligraphy.

Viewers are served with chrysanthemum tea packet drinks as they view the works and encouraged to leave the packets on the floor at the exhibition sites.

A series of work which are based on the origami portrayal of baby's breath flowers. Representing the innocence of new born babies, these origami pieces are arranged in such that they mimic the factory production belt. It is seemed as if they are man made. Reflecting the process of child bearing these days, this work explores the non natural process of pregnancy.

The tape sculpture is filled with baby powder which will evaporate as time goes by. As the inside is exposed, the sculpture will reveal more baby's breath flowers. This ongoing process reflect the growth of the mental ability of a baby which is affected by the surroundings to a great extent.

The tape sculpture on canvas explores the idea of children being an empty canvas for parents to 'draw' on. The figure is transparent giving the idea of flexibility of the child to be moulded in any form. This works aims to remind parents on their children's status as they are unable to determine their own growth due to the surrounding circumstances.

Cloverfield:vertical depicts the a landscape which is surreal and imaginative, as if it only exists in the virtual world. Inspired by the extravagant setting from the video game, this piece portrays the peculiar depiction of a field. Not horizontal flat, but vertically erected. At the same time, it challenges what viewers' understanding towards the idea of reality versus what they see as real.

Being human affords us the privilege of senses to experience our surroundings in a variety of ways.

Being, ironically, consists of inanimate recycled parts, put together to resemble a living organism. In part, they are nothing but inanimate raw material but as a whole, and constructed as such, our brains allow us to interpret Being as living with sensorial enhancements.

How ironic is it that it sometimes takes our daily interactions with inanimate objects to make us realise, or maybe not, that we are living beings with senses after all?

a series of ATC sent to USA under the Zodiac swap. pretty much similar to pameran poskad 2008 works but these are much smaller and i did some explorations on their chest, drawn zodiac symbols. did 3 similar ones for the postcards that i sent to overseas but that theme was superhero.

there is a sense of child-like works yet exploring matured themes in the series of men and acorns. from physical aesthetic to conceptual attributes. there is also a series kind-of-feel to my works which is intentional, as i want my works to be include the concept of collectibles, like trading cards which further deepens the concept of child-like products. a lot of playful tone in the work especially from the physical process of making.

a similar artist doing this combination of what is matured and what is childish is Chen Wai Teik. His photography work is combined with pages from children books and there's a blend between adults and kids. similarly, i want viewers to wonder, what makes a child a child and an adult an adult.

this is a new series of work that im working on for gallery 2902 project in february. the concept is pretty much simple, muse in one's mind to help him/her getting out of the messiness of his/her thoughts. there is an idea of simplicity and emptiness portrayed as a symbol of human's mind and the contrast between drawing and photography is to highlight the idea of what is real and what is not. after all, the muse is an abstract figure, non-exist but yet they are there, to aid us in reality.

A garden is a place where people usually visit to escape from the business in life. I tried. My visit to Botany Garden was not as successful because as I was about to leave the world of reality, the thoughts of school works and problems restrict me in doing so. in the end, I have to escape from these thoughts.

'Escape' is a series of photomontages, a continuation of alternate persona project where the character I portray represents a stronger individual. The work is also inspired by Oneika Russel's In the Night Garden. However, instead of blending the images digitally, I used cut and paste technique to show the idea of craft. At the same time, it makes the characters and setting, two different reality as they look separated yet exist on the same ground. This work also marks a few of my preferable style which are photomontage, using receipts and own self to create a persona or character.

the Yellow Ribbon Project : Community Art Exhibition 2008

The installation tells a story of the inmates' journey in their process of reconnection to faith. The dark background symbolizes their past and is contrasted with the light within the sculptures. Phrases in different languages which revolves around the word 'faith' are written on the floor, visually connecting the 4 sections together, forming a larger landscape.

In this project, I jump into the idea of impermanent installation because the process of reconnecting will end at a certain point of time where the inmates are reconnected to their faith. This work is also an accumulative efforts of the inmates and public thus signifies not only the efforts from the inmates but also the public in receiving the new them.

The first 6 photos are the initial installation plan set up in my place's function room. While the remaining 7 are the set up installation at Botany Garden Function Room.

Once upon a time, lived an ugly Crocs who was made of tapes with pieces of glass hanging within her. She had never stepped out of her humble hut as she was lacking in confidence. So the FairyCrocsMother decided to grant the poor Crocs a wish. "I want to be beautiful" she said. But the FairyCrocsMother replied, "You already are beautiful, dear". Confused, she was then led to step outside the hut and exposed to the sunlight. To her surprise, the glass reflected myriad of colors. A visiting CrocsCharming was captured by her glittery beauty and fell in love with her. And so they lived, happily ever after

"Indovers" is a title of a song by Indonesian pop group named ProjectPop. It is a song about how Indonesians who study abroad missing their country, both the good and bad times. At the same time, the lyrics also show the beauty of Indonesia's landscape.

My artwork is hence, also called INDOVERS. This time, i created my own personalised Indovers, a story of myself as a foreign student in Singapore who miss the times I had in my country. Likewise the lyrics of the song, my artwork also highlights the beauty of Indonesia and the rich diversity it owns.
