Chrysanthemum Tea
Chrysanthemum Tea
installation of 5 origami on paper, used packet drinks and interactive panels
approx 50cmby30cm each paintings
2008
This installation explores the idea of contemporary and modern vs traditional. Chrysanthemum tea is often drank at family reunion dinner and considered a very traditional custom. However, in today's society, the significance of the drink is diminished due to the selling of chrysanthemum tea as packet drinks.
The paintings too mimics the traditional chinese paintings however, the materials used are not so much traditional. Added with origami flowers, the works become a more contemporary art piece than a traditional chinese caligraphy.
Viewers are served with chrysanthemum tea packet drinks as they view the works and encouraged to leave the packets on the floor at the exhibition sites.
This installation is a piece exhibited in Mobile Garden : an origami project
